Ritesh takes Bhubaneswar schools chess title

Local boy Ritesh Mohapatra pipped four opponents at the post to capture the title in the 26th Bhubaneswar Schools Chess Tournament, which concluded here at Secretariat Recreation Club today. Five players tied for the top honour, securing seven points each in the eight-round tournament.

Mohapatra of St Joseph High School eventually clinched the crown on the basis of progressive score, while Anant Prava Nayak of Kendriya Vidyalaya No 4 settled as runner-up. Dr Subrat Kumar Sahoo, Director, Mahavir Group of Institutions, handed over the trophies at the closing function. Host Bhubaneswar Chess Association working president Smruti Ranjan Das and secretary Arati Bijoy Mohanty were present on the occasion.
